Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of counselling by Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) on elementary students’ self confidence. Confidence is one of important personality aspects in human’s life. To improve confidence on the students, counselling as RET is needed to be applied. The approach can help students to solve the problems caused by troubled way of thinking. This study was conducted in one elementary school in Bandung with the sample of 25 students who were chosen by purposive sampling. The method in this study is Pre-experiment. The results show that RET has a highly positive effect on elementary students’ confidence. There is a significant improvement on students’ confidence which is influenced by the implementation of RET with the average difference of 7,4.
