Abstract

The research is backed by the low emotional intelligence of learners in learning to learn how to study art in culture and practice in elementary school because educators use less innovative models that make learners Be passive and cannot cultivate emotional intelligence well in following learning. This study tried to implement a explicit instruction model to improve the emotional intelligence of learners on cultural arts and practice subjects in elementary schools. The study aims to obtain information on the implementation of the explicit instruction model in improving the emotional intelligence of learners to the subjects of cultural art and practice in elementary schools. The nature of this research is quantitative, which is characterized by the numbers and analysis techniques of using statistics. The design of this research uses the pattern of Nonequivalent control group design. The study was conducted in May 2017. The population in this research is a student of class IV SDN 112 Pamoyanan which amounted to 50 people. The sample also amounted to 50 people consisting of 25 people in the experimental class and 25 people in the control class. The so-called saturated samples. Data collection is done with essay-shaped test instruments and observation instruments data collection techniques using observation sheets and test problems. To measure the increased emotional intelligence of students to cultural and artistic arts subjects, researchers used pre-test and post-test and observed students ' behavior using an observation sheet. The test data processing uses SPSS 22 with the test hypothesis normality testing, homogeneity test, and later different test to process the observation data using Microsoft Excel concluded that (1) based on testing there Increase the emotional intelligence of learners on the subjects of cultural arts and practice in elementary school using the explicit instruction model. (2) based on the calculations it can be concluded that the hypothesis that reads "There is a significant increase in emotional intelligence by applying a explicit instruction model on cultural arts subjects and practice in elementary schools" can Accepted.
