Abstract

This research is entitled "Analysis of Language Mistakes in Spelling and Syntax Field in Indonesian Language Essays of Grade VI at SD Ashfiya Bandung". The purpose of this research is to describe the type of language mistakes in spelling and syntax fields in Indonesian language essays of grade VI SD Ashfiya Bandung. The problems in this research are the types of language mistakes in spelling field such as: mistakes of capital letter usage, preposition writing, and the use of punctuation. Meanwhile. language mistakes in the field of syntax, such as: phrase and sentence structure. The theories used in this research are the theory of Tarigan (1997) and Setiyawati (2010). The data of this study are 18 essays. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. To determine and classify spelling and syntax mistakes were used the techniques of reading and recording. The obtained data are analyzed by descriptive qualitative method using the agih method with marking reading techniques. The instrument of this research is the researcher himself (human instrument). The results of this research indicate that language mistakes in spelling and syntax fields in Indonesian language essays of grade VI SD Ashfiya are capital usage mistakes in 67 cases, use of prepositions in 15 cases, and the use of punctuation in 98 cases. The language mistakes in the syntactic field are found in 85 cases, which included phrase mistakes in 37 cases and sentence structure mistakes in 48 cases.
