Abstract

The title of this research is Enhancing the Ability to Understand the Content of Fiction in Students Using Audio Visual Media in Indonesian Language Learning for Class IV Elementary School. The problem under study is about the results of increasing the ability to understand the contents of fiction stories in grade IV students in learning Indonesian using audio visual media. This study aims to determine the results of increased ability to understand the contents of fiction in learners using audio visual media. The theory used in this study is Joni et al. (2014) for audio visual media, and Anderson & Kathwol in Gunawan (2012) for understanding abilities. This research is quantitative descriptive. The research design used is Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research was conducted at SDN 1 Cijeruk. The subjects in this study were class IV-A as an experimental class with 32 students and class IV-B as a control class with 32 students. Data were collected in the form of students' pretest and posttest and then analyzed with the help of SPSS software version 22 to see an increase in the ability to understand the contents of the story in students using audio-visual media. The results showed an increase in the ability to understand the contents of fiction in learners using auido visual media in Indonesian language learning in grade IV primary school.
